South Ozone Park, NY — The not yet 4-year old Reform Party of New York State, which is lead by radio host and media personality Curtis Sliwa as their New York State Committee Chairman, just got a whole lot stronger after they organized their Queens County Committee and elected long-time political power broker, Bobby K. Kalotee, as their Queens County Chairman.
After the initial organization meeting, Curtis Sliwa said, “As Chairman of the New York State Reform Party, I was proud to see that our Queens Committee elected Bobby K. Kalotee its Chairman.” “Bobby is a veteran of political wars in both the Republican and Independence parties. His experience will serve our party well. Also, our party destroyed the myth that we are just a rubber stamp for the Republican and Conservative parties. In their first act, they endorsed 3 Democrats for re-election. Suozzi, Meng, Maloney.”
Kalotee was formerly the Nassau County Republican Party Vice Chairman, the Nassau County Independence Party Chairman, and a 2014 NY Lieutenant Governor candidate. Regarding his selection as chair, Kalotee said, “First of all, I want to thank the leadership of the Reform Party, Curtis Sliwa and Frank Morano and the others, for their trust in working together to achieve the principles that the Reform Party has set in their bylaws to be inclusive of all New Yorkers in the election process.”
The Reform Party is known for their anti-status quo political party policies including allowing independent voters, which are not enrolled in a political party, to vote in Reform Party primary elections. In true anti-status quo fashion, this initial organization meeting of the Interim County Organization of the Reform Party of Queens County wasn’t hidden in a back room somewhere. But instead, it was in a public food court at the Resorts World Casino in Queens within earshot of interested diners, sitting in front of a food court vendor aptly named Queens Burgers. The following day, Curtis Sliwa on his 77 WABC radio station program, Curtis & Cosby, declared that Queens Burgers makes the best burgers.
Also, unique to this Queens County initial organizational meeting was that every known enrolled Reform Party voter residing in Queens was mailed an invitation to attend the meeting, with each voter eligible of being elected an officer of the Queens County Committee.
In addition to Bobby K. Kalotee being elected Queens County Chairman, former 2012 State Assembly candidate, John N. Scandalios, was elected Queens County Secretary. And Radio Program Producer, Alexander K. Garrett, was elected Queens County Treasurer.
